Women on Snow draws gals who love to snowmobile from all over the Midwest for a weekend of trail riding. Based in Eagle River, Wisconsin, registration begins at noon on Friday. The women ride in one of six groups designated by color. The Board of Directors of Women on Snow are [L to R] Sally Ayers, Laurel Frank, Gail Kukanich, Rita Levine, Bev Dittmar, Judy Pacanowski (on snowmobile), Phyllis Atchison, and Edie Kukanich. Vilas County News-Review) They hosted their 21st annual event in 2007, with 109 women participating.
By 3:00 p.m. the riding groups leave the home base for a ride on the trails, making a pit stop or two along the way, including one for a real Wisconsin fish fry dinner. Friday’s ride is typically 60-70 miles.
On Saturday morning, it's early to rise with a continental breakfast. The gals are on the trail by 8:00 a.m. Each of the touring groups head in different directions, but meet at a common place for lunch. There is a support vehicle towing a snowmobile trailer available for uncooperative sleds or mishaps. After lunch, each group departs for more trail riding, returning to home base by late afternoon, and logging in about 100 miles for the day. Saturday evening brings a themed Saturday night banquet which is always full of surprises.

The snowmobiling fun continues Sunday morning and ends
after brunch at about 1:00 p.m.
Most of the gals begin to pack up and head for home, but a few of the more seasoned trail riders stay for the Women on Snow Tour which occurs Monday through Wednesday after the weekend event.
Women on Snow is a great weekend away and attracts gals of all ages and riding abilities. Meals, lodging, and gas are included in the price for the weekend; oil and refreshments are on your own. The registration form for our next event will be avaialable for download in September from our Home Page.
